Promises, promises that just aren't kept. That is the case with the school buses at the moment, not only are the new buses not here yet, but the vandalism hasn't stopped either.
The week before half-term, on Tuesday the school bus service that goes up Edwin Road was hit. A boy (no doubt from the Howard) threw a stone at one of the windows, which smashed. The driver had to stop and called the police.

This is particularly bad as this is not the first time this has happened; I for one have seen a window on the bus smashed once before. The other bus service that heads down the A2 in the direction of the church has also had windows smashed. Last time, a policeman was recrutied to monitor the area around the newsagents at the top of Bloors Lane, where the incidents occurred. However, this time the incident happened at the top of Pump Lane. I recommend someone from the police or the school(s), monitors that area too.

It is a problem that needs to be sorted out as it could be potentially dangerous if it happens again. Luckily, as far as I'm aware nobody was hurt. However, it caused some distress to the Year 7's sitting next to the window which was broken.

Some questions need to be asked. Firstly, why hasn't the vandalism been prevented? Did the school or the service providors mention to the Year 7 parents that the buses had been vandalised with passengers on board? Have any of the vandals been caught or have the incidents been properly investigated? Has anyone been chasing up what happened to the American School buses we were promised - they are especially designed to be vandal-proof. If not, then the school has spoilt the good reputation its tries so hard to maintain. The same goes for the police and the bus service.
